200km run from Hoyland to Milton Keynes for Leukaemia UK
I'm running from Niftylift Hoyland to Milton Keynes in memory of Brailer Cuevas on 30th May - 2nd June 2025 to raise funds for Leukaemia UK. Brailer was a senior control systems engineer and colleague of mine that passed away on June 1st 2024, 2 days before his 29th birthday. Brailer Cuevas Ortega
I am raising money in memory of Brailer Cuevas who tragically passed away following surgery for swelling on his brain attributed to leukaemia on 1st June 2024, 2 days before his 29th birthday.
Brailer was a colleague of mine and a Senior Control Systems Engineer at Niftylift Ltd. I will be running 200km over 4 days, starting at the Niftylift Hoyland site in Barnsley and finishing at the site in Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes. One of the days will coincide with the first anniversary of Brailer's passing. I am hoping this run and the money raised will ever so slightly ease the pain Brailer's family and loved ones will inevitably feel around this time.
I will be completing this challenge in order to raise funds for Leukaemia UK. Their mission is to "bring together the leukaemia community so we can find and fund the life-changing research that matters most". You can find out more about the charity here.
In the UK, 28 new patients are diagnosed with leukaemia every day – that’s 9,907 every year.
Despite progress, under 60% of leukaemia patients in England survive their disease for five years or more
Leukaemia is the most common type of cancer in children under 15 (over 650 children and young adults are diagnosed every year).
I have completed various marathons and ultramarathons, including running over 125km in a single day. This will be my first multi-day ultramarathon challenge. All logistics and equipment costs will be covered by myself. 100% of the money received from donations will go to Leukaemia UK.
I will be recording at various points along the route and posting daily video updates. I will also post a longer video once the challenge is completed. I am also planning on making a live tracker available to allow people to follow my progress.
Please consider donating in memory of Brailer or for the thousands of others who are affected by leukaemia each year. Thank you.
